Raise those collars, unfurl generous petticoats, bring on puffy sleeves : Victorian fashion is back ! Having already simmered on the Autumn-Winter 2015 runways, the new Victorian look was massively confirmed in the Spring-Summer 2016 shows. The trend, which recalls 19th century England and Queen Victoria’s reign, can be summed up by its three stalwart elements: volume, black and lace. ________________________________

From that point, anything is possible : Alberta Ferretti modernizes romantic image with transparencies that are not so innocent, Jason Wu plays raven black to the hilt in shorter lengths, the more daring Alexander McQueen goes Gothic by embellishing lace with multiple piercings while Undercover injects a dose of streetwear in a multi-element sweater. And for a calmer but still flamboyant variation, Etro imagines a slightly gypsy Fair Lady with an abundance of color.

These many propositions speak to us since they are strong, creative, personal and rework a Victorian silhouette (and of course Sophie Hallette laces) in more depth. For the everyday, this could be a collar detail, jabot, sleeve or cape … for Women or Men … Or even a total look for the holiday season !
